Orlee Buium is a Toronto-based film editor with over 15 years of experience. She seamlessly blends her love for cinema with a passion for the outdoors. Orlee's editing expertise transcends genre boundaries, seamlessly navigating the intricate worlds of Gore-y thrillers, science fiction epics, and poignant dramas.
A graduate of the Editors’ Lab at the Canadian Film Centre in 2018, she honed her skills through collaborations with emerging filmmakers after earning a BFA in Film Production and Screenwriting from York University, where she received recognition for her editing talents with a CCE Student Merit Award.
Her editing on ALL MY PUNY SORROWS has garnered acclaim, notably earning her the BEST EDITING IN A FEATURE FILM award at the CANADIAN SCREEN AWARDS 2022 and the 2021 DGC AWARD FOR BEST EDITING. Additionally, she received nominations for her work on NORTH OF NORMAL and QUEEN OF THE MORNING CALM at the DGC (2021) and CCE (2024) Awards, solidifying her reputation as a respected editor in Canadian cinema. Many of her previous projects are available on streaming services.
Learning from industry leaders like Michelle Szemberg, Rod Deogrades, and Cam McLauchlin, Orlee has worked on a diverse array of projects, ranging from acclaimed television series like THE EXPANSE and BETWEEN to feature films such as THE KINDNESS OF STRANGERS, THE BROKEN HEARTS GALLERY, and BELOW HER MOUTH.
Orlee's most recent edit, HUMANE, the debut feature of Caitlin Cronenberg, premieres in theatres on April 26, 2024. As a dedicated collaborator, Orlee continues to seek out projects with socially conscious content, striving to make a lasting impact in the world of cinema.
